We have been very busy this week shredding paper and selling pet bedding. We sold 4 bags and have enough money to buy our first classroom ball for use during playtime.
Our focus for our Zero Waste inquiry this week was to think about ways of reducing the packaging in our lunch boxes. Here you can see some of the packaging that can be reused. We also learned how to make our own yoghurt that could then be taken to school in small reusable containers so we don't end up with so many yoghurt pottles in our bin.
In ICT we applied our knowledge of sorting different materials for recycling to make these charts.
This was Talia's last week with us. She helped us to record our mihi's and they are now up on the kidzstiff blog for us to share with our families and friends.Well done everyone you did a great job!
On Thursday we said goodbye to Talia and she shared popcorn and grapes with us at morning tea. She will be missed by us all but I have a feeling we will see her again in the not too distant future.
Our song, writing and poem this week all had a teddy bear theme. Here we are performing the poem "Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear"
At morning tea on Friday we had a special teddy bears picnic to say goodbye and good luck to Connor who is moving to Wellington. We will miss you heaps, you have been such a good friend to everyone in the class and a great role model to others. Please keep in touch with us through our blog and we look forward to hearing how you are getting on at your new school.
On Friday afternoon the whole school took part in a cross country event. I was delighted to see everyone from Room 11 take part. You all has a great "I can" attitude, well done. Have a look at some of the photos of trying our best.
