We are a Year 1 class at Nelson Central School, Nelson, New Zealand. Most of us are 5 years old,
except for Tracy our teacher who is a bit older. This blog lets you know what we have been up to
and what our next learning steps will be. We love to find out what people think about our class
so please get typing and leave us a comment.

Week 7 and 8 Term 3

In Week 6 Tim came along with his practise trolley track s to give us a taster of things to come.
We also got a chance to ride in a full size trolley.
Thank you to Tim from the Nelson Trolley Club for supporting and inspiring us with this topic and turning it into something which promises to be quite spectacular.
It was all very exciting and we got the chance to speak to Poppy and Xan who raced in this year Trolley Derby on Collingwood Street. Take a look at the movie they made about their experience.

On Tuesday we had a great visit to the Suter Art Gallery to look at art works from the Malu Minar Exhibition. Take a look at the marvellous masks we created...they may give some of you ideas for this years Mask Parade. Check them out on display in the classroom. A big thank you to all the mums and dads who came along to support us on this visit.

At the end of the week Dean brought all his Antarctica equipment to share with classes he had been working with earlier in the year. Here we are on the sledge being pulled along by the Te Pouahi " huskies".

We also had chance to go inside a tent use in Antarctica. Fortunately for us it was a lovely sunny day with no snow in sight.

We have been busy learning about beat with Maree in our music lessons and doing some work together as a class percussion orchestra.

As many of you know I was away in Auckland last weekend for a conference and was unable to blog. This is why week 7 and 8 have been combined into 1 blog and there is no Reminders or What we will be learning section as the moment has already passed. Hopefully normal blogging will resume from Week 9 onwards.
