Week 9 Term 3

The highlight of Week 9 was undoubtedly the Kowhai Trolley Derby which was held on Friday. Everyone, young and not so young, had an amazing time and it is something that we will remember for a long, long time. Thank you so much for Tim from the Nelson Trolley Club for turning this event into something beyond our wildest dreams....what a star! Don't forget that on Monday 17th September you can race your trolley again at the top of Trafalgar Street from 5.30 onwards.

Amongst all the excitement and preparation for the Trolley Derby we did manage to squeeze in some other learning as well. In maths we started our topic on measurement and looked at using non-standard units to measure and compare the lengths of our feet.

To celebrate Nelson Public Library turning 170 years old on September 27^th   we wrote a story about our dream library of the future. The library is holding a competition for the best ideas and I will be entering some of our work, so look out for them on the Nelson Library wall.

Our tricky words for week 8,9,10 are 'should', 'could', 'would'. The rhyme we have been using to remember these is O U Lucky Duck

Our tongue twister about a Woodchuck helped us to spell some of these words.  Have a listen and see how many O U Lucky Duck words you can hear.
